KASHMIR - RELAXING UNDER THE STARS

Imagine yourself staying in adventurous camps, listening to the raging rivers, quite nights, crisp breeze and trying to sort out the ocean of stars in the clear night sky. This and all is happening in only one place and that place is none other then Kashmir. Surrounded and flanked by the Pir Panjal and Zanskar range, the enormous snow capped mountains look like sentinels guarding a paradise of natural wealth. A potpourri of lakes, rivers, high altitude meadows, fruit orchards and unlimited mountain ranges, Kashmir offers a rare insight for those looking for a un spoilt natural beauty. For a little over six to seven months every year, the Himalayan valley of Kashmir emerges from a cloak of snow to reveal a different yet magical and secret land to people who wish to explore this beautiful place simply known to travelers as The Paradise on Earth. This camping tour begins from the beautiful lake city of Srinagar and by the time you head the mountains, the landscape changes dramatically giving way to large alpine and oak meadows and a profusion of colorful wild flowers. On this tour, you will experience, a calmness and total relaxation in the different parts of Kashmir, while staying in cozy alpine tents, with well-equipped kitchens and delicious food served at small bonfires.

Details:

Day 1: Arrive Srinagar:

You will arrive in Srinagar in the early afternoon. Upon your arrival, you will be met by our representative who will escort you to the beautiful city and transfer you to your houseboat. The day will be spent in complete relaxation, where you will experience the difference of staying in these luxurious houseboats.

Day 2: In Srinagar:
Breakfast at the boat.


A day of explorations and experiences, we start from our houseboats and paddle across the lake in small boats to the other side of the lake. From here we will board the cars and drive to the famous Mughal gardens of Kashmir. The day sightseeing includes a visit to the Nishat Garden, known for its well laid flower gardens, fountains, water channels and huge Chinar trees. Built in the 16th century, the garden overlooks the Dal Lake and has a dramatic backdrop of the mountain ranges behind it. We later drive to visit yet another garden known as Shalimar. The garden is smaller then Nishat, but nonetheless is very beautiful with huge stone pavilions set amidst water pools and lush green trees swaying to and fro in the light breeze. After spending the afternoon here, we drive back to our houseboats. Later in the evening we will take a short boating ride in the backwaters of the lake, visiting some boat communities and steeping on the little floating gardens. Late evening and overnight stay at the boat.

Day 3: Srinagar to Pahalgam: (97 km / 3/4 hrs)

We drive today to explore and stay in a beautiful secluded mountain resort 94 km situated in the north east of the valley. Driving through stony roads, lush green forests and mud villages with a mesmerizing backdrop of the Himalayan range, the route takes us to the green valley of Pahalgam literally known as The Shepherds Village. This high altitude meadow is by far the most famous in Kashmir. With lush tropical forests and beautiful rivers and streams, the valley is tucked deep into the mountains and is known for its beauty and landscape. We arrive in Pahalgam in the late afternoon and transfer to our already fixed camp. . The sightseeing of the day includes a visit to the market and some walks along the river.

Day 4: In Pahalgam:
Breakfast at the camp.

Our day will start late in the morning with breakfast served in the open area of our camp. Afterwards we will do some sightseeing of the valley on horseback. Rest of the day will be at leisure for individual activities. Evening will be spent around a bonfire listening to the calm water music. Overnight at camp.

Day 5: In Pahalgam:
Breakfast at the camp.

We will take a short drive to visit the famous waterfall and Mughal gardens at Achabal. Later we will head back to our camp in Pahalgam. The day will be yours to be spent in exploring and hiking into the market and the adjoining areas. Overnight in camp.

Day 6: Pahalgam to Gulmarg: (152 km / 5/6 hrs)
Breakfast at the camp.

We will leave in the morning towards another famous resort known in Kashmir. Traveling though green fields and lush forests, thickened by pine and fir trees, we will arrive in the famous bowl shaped meadow of Gulmarg. Known locally as Gulmarg which means the Valley of Flowers, the open meadow has green slopes encircled by trees and majestic mountains. We will arrive in the afternoon and immediately go on sightseeing by the Swiss styled Gondola to the top of the mountain, where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the valley below. Evening will be spent at the camp.

Day 7: Gulmarg to Srinagar: (58 km / 2/3 hrs)
Breakfast at the camp.

We will drive back to the city of Srinagar in the morning. Upon your arrival you will be transferred to the houseboat. The day will be at your leisure, for individual activities. Overnight at houseboat.

Day 8: Srinagar Depart:
Breakfast at the boat.

After breakfast, you will paddle across the lake and board the car that will transfer you to the airport for your flight to any onward destination.
